I admit to being a little freaked out by the mountainous pile of laundry we unpacked, on a FRIDAY, but it was worth it! Besides, after a time of refreshment everyone is more likely to pitch in and get the job done. (thanks for folding a ton's worth of laundry last night, hon!)
Joni and Friends Family Retreats are where
persons with disability and their families receive encouragement and care in the comfort of a safe and accessible family camp environment. Enjoy fully-accessible and age-appropriate fun activities, be nourished by hearty home-style meals, and glean from meaningful conversations from a network of families who understand the challenges of life with disability. There are also opportunities for typically abled persons to participate :
Short Term Missionaries (STMs) volunteer and are assigned to serve families with Christ-like encouragement and friendship.Either way, the week is life-changing, the friendships are treasured, and the schedule destruction is worth it! Last night there was a 20th year celebration! Those who have participated are grateful for the work that has gone into the organization of these weeks over the past two decades!
I am back, still longing for that little glimpse of heaven we have while on retreat, but getting back into routine. Thanks for forgiving my disappearance for awhile! I hope to post some great savings and resources daily once again!
