Less mess egg dyeing for all abilities

It's difficult for me to skip over dyeing Easter eggs. It's a tradition and,  if I am going to be able to embrace the changes life sends me, it seems I need to keep traditions going. But this year I was growing bored with our standard whisk adapted egg coloring, especially with all the fabulously decadent egg adornment ideas staring at me on Pinterest!  So we tried something new, once again using my couponed stockpile of storage baggies.

We were supposed to pour rice, uncooked(!!), into baggies and drop food coloring in as needed to achieve the desired hue.

You may notice my rice looks a little unusual...that's because I rarely buy white rice but rather a mix of wild, long grain,  and quinoa. (Yum!) And it was, after all, crunch time for Easter dinner prep so no way was I running to a crowded grocery store for white rice! Ha!
I think it worked just fine! We chose four different colors and bags to begin with and changed them up as we went. After mushing together the rice and the color we carefully added an egg and the girls shook the bags until the color was transferred in many tiny dots.

I think they turned out great!
